Life...
I am changing my profile and will no longer be posting under Scott D Covey storyteller or the like anymore. Why?
I had to turn the page.
I don't know if you have ever stayed in a relationship that wasn't working for a long time or not. A partnership that created such self-loathing and hatred that you dared not look in a mirror for fear you might attack the reflected image. It is strange how we allow ourselves to be so consumed in relationships that we know are toxic. Bullshit spiritual memes or Horoscope predeterminations fill the inbox from the person that is actually supposed to be holding your soul. You look for connection, yearn for it, and you find fluff and chaff best left in a fat person's bellybutton. You choke on the yoke you attached and polished until you die, change, or adapt.
It was like this for me. Broken against the cultural wall and cruelty of a selfish and uncaring partner and wife. One that quickly grasped at the stereotype and attached the victim status card and filled my inbox with drivel and bullshit memes. A character trait of kindness mistaken for weakness. A Monday morning of changes viewed as a negotiation.
"You're going to be the bad guy in at least one person's narrative."
Changes
It isn't easy to look at one's own life with anything that resembles clarity. We need to see that in someone else eyes. A friend that shows you the way. One you trust, or better several. If we are lucky we earn friends like this. Friends that will show us the hard realities and reflect the person you used to be. Someone unafraid to reach into the shit you've made of your life and drag you out, spray you off and set you back on course. I am lucky to have earned such friendships.
Transitions
Learning to walk again is never easy. Finding the new you never simple. Rebuilding a shattered personality...
The Challenge!
